Parque lives at the intersection of design and mindfulness in fashion. Our mission is to be a catalyst of conscious consumption, orchestrating a shift towards end-to-end sustainability in the footwear industry and beyond.

Our Philosophy

A Movement for Change
We believe that a shoe company can be a vehicle for good— challenging the model of disposable consumer goods.

We use eco design, ethical materials and production, and a closed loop system to create elevated timeless silhouettes that inspire you to rethink your approach to footwear.

We're maximizing our collective impact by donating 5% of net profits to NGO's focused on conserving and advocating for our natural world.

Sustainability
We use the core fundamentals of science in evaluating the sustainability or impact of our businesses on the health and resilience of the planet. We look at how our shoes and practices contribute to:

● the systematic increase in substances extracted from the earth’s crust
● the accumulation of compounds that do not break down in nature
● the degradation of natural systems
● the barriers that prevent people from meeting their needs

Innovation and Responsible Sourcing
We use primarily eco-friendly and innovative materials and processes that move us away from practices that are harmful to the earth.

Responsible Supply Chain
We produce our shoes through responsible supply chain management, tracing and transparency. We partner with small artisanal factories and vendors that are an important part of their local economic ecosystem.

Our Commitments

Our Made-to-Order System

We want to slow the pace of fashion to a healthier rhythm. Instead of mass producing our styles, each pair is meticulously made by hand to order, reducing unnecessary waste.

Together, we'll follow the progress of your shoes as they’re made so you can see each step of the process, receiving regular updates like love letters from our craftspeople. Parque invites you to pause, take a breath, and remember that good things are always worth waiting for.

Our Story

In today’s world, it’s surprisingly difficult to find footwear that aligns with our values. At the same time, we’re facing unprecedented challenges and a massive environmental crisis. To confront this, society, including businesses, needs to shift to operate within the constraints of the planet.

Parque emerged out of a need to see mindfulness in fashion and to be a catalyst for positive change. Founded by Silvana Rivadeneira in 2019 after 22 years spent working in prominent Canadian footwear brands leading design and development, Parque examines timeless footwear silhouettes – the essential staples of our wardrobe – reimagined through a smart and sophisticated sustainability lens.

Based in Vancouver, Canada, on the traditional and unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples, including the territories of the xwməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil- Waututh) Nations, and connected to a community of makers at home and abroad, Parque is local to everywhere and for everyone.

Our Process

An Eco Design Approach

Our criteria is to integrate environmental consideration into every phase of our footwear, from raw materials to manufacturing, distribution, functional life, and end of life.

Every design we produce is examined from multiple angles. We consider not just the purpose and aesthetics, but also how it will be made, used, how it will age, how to extend usage, and how to dispose of it responsibly when it reaches its end of life. As such, our designs are refined with intent.

Sustainable Materials

Parque explores the use of recycled and eco-innovative materials within every component; inside and outside, top to bottom. Our goal is to incorporate the latest leading edge sustainable materials into every shoe we create.

Responsible Manufacturing

Parque products are created through close-knit partnerships and collaborations with a global community of makers . Parque's manufacturing and raw materials suppliers are long-term relationships built on the principles of fair trade, mutual respect, and transparency. Designed in Vancouver and made in Japan with components for each style coming from Spain, Italy, Portugal, China and Japan, each shoe reflects what is possible when we all work together.

Keiichi Morita, Shoe Artisan in Kobe City, Japan
Mr. Morita has been working in the footwear industry for the last 24 years. His love of handmade shoes and footwear making began in 1993, working at a shop that imported shoes from the UK, leading him to the Nishinari Shoe Making School and then to open his shoe studio Kobekutsuya in Suma, Kobe. Here he makes and sells his brand Kokochi Sun3, each item a carefully crafted exploration of the ideal way in which shoes are beautiful daily necessities that can be used and repaired.

Portierra Tannery in Hyogo, Japan
Portierra (For the Earth) creates their leather from wild deer native to the mountains of Japan, as part of the area’s cull program. Their tanning process is free from heavy metals and safe for the environment, resulting in a beautiful, soft to the touch, long lasting leather, while helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Supplier Code Of Conduct

Closing the Loop

In 2019, over 24 billion pairs of shoes were made; of these, 95% will end up in landfill. Through our recycling program using TerraCycle® Zero Waste Boxes, we divert footwear waste from landfill. Made with recycled and eco-friendly materials from the beginning of their lifecycle, we design for a long-lasting life; and when that life comes to its end, we'll take them back and make sure they stay out of the waste stream.
